Election Day is next week for City of Warrensburg registered voters.
The Aug. 8 special election only includes one question regarding the issuance of sewer revenue bonds:
“Shall the City of Warrensburg, Missouri issue its sewer revenue bonds in the amount of $22,000,000 for the purpose of acquiring easements or right-of-way, and acquiring, constructing, upgrading and improving its sewer system, including but not limited to upgrading, improving and expanding the City’s two existing sewer treatment plants, with the payment of the principal of and interest on said revenue bonds, to be payable solely from the user fees and other revenues derived by the City from the operation of its sewer system, including all future extensions and improvements there to?”
Since the special election only applies to registered voters living in Warrensburg city limits, only one polling location will be open on Tuesday: Elks Lodge, 822 E. Young Ave. It will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Absentee voting begins six weeks before every election, and no-excuse absentee voting begins two weeks before. Absentee voting began June 27. No excuse voting began July 25 and will conclude at 5 p.m. Aug. 7. Absentee voting is available at the Johnson County Courthouse from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday from June 27 to Aug. 4; 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 5; and 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 7.
The deadlines for new voter registration and to request a mailed absentee ballot have passed.
