Wind chill advisory in effect beginning 9 p.m. Friday

A wind chill advisory is in effect from 9 p.m. Friday, Feb. 12, to noon Saturday, Feb. 13, for Johnson County.

The National Weather Service states the wind chill is expected to be 10 to 20 degrees below zero. 

NWS states the wind chill could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 30 minutes. 

NWS states prolonged periods of cold temperatures and dangerous wind chills will remain possible for the weekend into early next week.

NWS states portions of east-central and northeast Kansas and central, north-central, northeast, northwest and west-central Missouri will be affected.
