Warrensburg Police Department investigating reported attempted abduction

Posted

WARRENSBURG — The Warrensburg Police Department is investigating a reported attempted abduction of a juvenile that occurred in the morning of Thursday, April 8, according to a WPD Facebook post.

Officers were dispatched to the area of Marr Drive and South Maguire Street, where they met the juvenile that reported the case.

The juvenile reported that they missed the bus and started walking to the high school. The juvenile said as they were walking by the U-Haul Rental at 1309 S. Maguire Street, a darker red box style SUV pulled up next to them and rolled down the window. A male driver reportedly exited the vehicle, grabbed the individual's arm, but the individual kicked the male and he let them go. The male then got back into his vehicle and left the area.

The juvenile described the male subject as a white male, with an uncared for black beard, possibly the age of 40, and wearing a black sweatshirt and sweatpants. Officers and investigators began checking the busy intersection, where the crime was reported to have occurred.

After reviewing hours of many different video footage and no other witnesses coming forward, the WPD have not been able to determine this crime has occurred.

In the comments of the post, one user said their child was approached by a person with a similar description to the male driver at their high school. The user reported the case and contacted the school.

As of Monday, April 8, no updates on the case have been reported.
