Warrensburg Parks and Recreation is excited to announce a new opportunity for area seniors at the Warrensburg Community Center.
Beginning May 21, every Thursday will be recognized as “Senior Thursday” at the Community Center. As part of this new pilot program, all adults ages 60 and older will receive free access to the facility every Thursday during normal operating hours. This includes use of the pool, indoor walking track, fitness center, and pickleball and basketball courts. The program will continue until further notice.
In addition, Parks & Recreation officials want area seniors to be aware that individuals who are enrolled in both Medicare and Medicaid may qualify for programs such as SilverSneakers or Renew Active through their insurance provider. These programs may allow eligible seniors to utilize the Community Center at no cost year-round.
Community members with questions regarding SilverSneakers, Renew Active, or Community Center memberships are encouraged to contact Carson Beard at the Community Center for additional information.
“We appreciate the important role seniors play in our community and wanted to create an opportunity that encourages wellness, recreation, and social engagement,” said Tony Albertina. “We are excited to offer Senior Thursdays and look forward to seeing residents take advantage of the program.”
