Trails Regional Library lowers COVID precautions level

Posted

WARRENSBURG — As of Monday, Nov. 15, all branches of Trails Regional Library will move into COVID Level One, with fewer restrictions in place.

Branches will continue to be open with full service, full staff and regular hours.

Precautions in place in Level One - New Normal include:

  • All computers available for use with normal time limits
  • All seating options, toys and other items available
  • Masks recommended
  • Curbside available by request
  • Meeting rooms and study rooms available for public use with no COVID-19 occupancy limits

The COVID Level Plan was approved in August 2021 by the Trails Regional Library Board of Trustees.

The library has been at Level Two since the plan’s implementation.

Due to reduced cases in Johnson and Lafayette counties, Director Jackie Hawes has made the decision to move library branches down to the lowest level.

This level still includes safety precautions but drastically reduces restrictions in libraries.

The COVID Level Plan includes five color-coded levels that are specific to each branch location. Any future level changes will be communicated on posted signs outside every library building, on the library website and will be shared with local news outlets for publication.

Even in the highest level (Level Five), library service will be available on an appointment basis and Curbside Service, Digital Resources and 24/7 parking lot WiFi access will continue as normal.

The COVID Level Plan reflects new library workflows established since the beginning of the pandemic.

Mitigation strategies, including self-checkout machines, virtual program offerings, virtual technology assistance and protective barriers around circulation desks, are now a fixture of library service and will allow the library to maintain a higher level of accessibility regardless of changes in the pandemic or other health crises.
