A man has been charged after a weekend shooting in Warrensburg that left one person injured.

According to a Warrensburg Police Department news release, around 1:47 a.m. Saturday, May 4, a shooting occurred on Pine Street near Washington Street in Warrensburg. Officers located one victim with a gunshot wound to the front of the shin of their left leg. The victim's vehicle had multiple bullet holes in the trunk and driver’s side door.

Witnesses described a Black male wearing black clothing shooting a handgun in the street with other individuals near him. Officers located the suspect at the scene of the shooting, standing next to his vehicle with one unspent 9mm round and three spent 9mm shell casings on the ground.

Officers arrested the suspect and identified him as Bryan K.D. Logan. Online court records list his residence as Berkeley, Missouri.

The release states that during an interview with WPD investigators, Logan admitted to being in a disagreement with another individual. He said he pulled his handgun from his sweatpants and shot two or three rounds to get two subjects away from him. Logan admitted to throwing his handgun onto the front passenger seat of his vehicle.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for Logan’s vehicle and seized a black semi-automatic 9mm Smith and Wesson M&P pistol loaded with 9mm Speer hollow point rounds.

On May 4, the Warrensburg Investigations Bureau applied for an arrest warrant for Logan. He has been charged with first-degree assault, armed criminal action, shooting a firearm at a motor vehicle, unlawful use of a weapon-exhibiting, and unlawful use of a weapon-while intoxicated. He is at the Johnson County Jail and was issued no bond.

Logan was arraigned Monday, May 6 in Johnson County Circuit Court and pleaded not guilty. A hearing for attorney status and bond is scheduled for May 10.

“I would like to thank the members of the public who have stood up against this senseless type of violence,” Warrensburg Police Chief Andy Munsterman said in the release. “I want to thank all of the agencies involved in this investigation and especially all of the Warrensburg Police officers and investigators who worked countless hours to reassure the public's safety by taking the suspect into custody and building a solid investigation to keep him in custody.”
