The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office is investigating after an unknown man was reported in a Johnson County residence earlier this week.

According to a news release, deputies responded to the Timber Hills area in the 200 block of Northwest 51st Road. The victim reported an unidentified man was discovered inside their residence when they arrived home around 7:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 16. Due to the suspect’s concealment, the victim was able to offer a limited description of the assailant.

The male subject is described as approximately 5’10” and 180 pounds wearing a black ski mask, canvas pants, a camouflage hunting jacket, cloth gloves and boots. He did not have an accent.

“As residents in the area, we understand your concerns,” Sheriff Scott Munsterman said in the release. “While we cannot currently disclose specific details of the ongoing investigation, we assure you that every effort is being made to ensure the safety and security of the community.”

Anyone with details or who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area is encouraged to contact Johnson County Central Dispatch at 660-747-5511.

“We encourage everyone to remain vigilant and take appropriate precautions to ensure personal safety,” Munsterman said. “Lock your doors and windows, and report any suspicious behavior.”
