JCCHS updates demographic information of 4,691 total COVID-19 cases reported

JOHNSON COUNTY — Johnson County Community Health Services has released information in relation to the age and location of the confirmed positive cases of coronavirus in Johnson County as of Friday, March 19.

According to the local COVID-19 dashboard, the county's death count is currently at 48.

JCCHS states that of the 4,691 confirmed positive cases in the county, 4,672 cases are considered recovered while 19 are still active.

The case count is an increase of 14 cases since Friday, March 12. Forty cases have been considered recovered since March 12.

To be considered recovered, the Johnson County Task Force states a person who has tested positive must be seven days post-onset of symptoms and 72 hours fever free without the use of fever-reducing medication.

Of the 4,691 total cases reported by JCCHS, 2,841 came from Warrensburg for a total of 60.6% of the total cases. Of the positive cases, 2,462 were PCR tests and 379 were Antigen tests.

JCCHS states that 2,828, 99.5%, of the cases reported in Warrensburg were recovered while 13 were still active.

Of the remaining cases in the county, JCCHS states there were:

  • 609 total cases (13% of cases in the county; 526 positives from PCR tests and 83 positives from Antigen tests) reported in communities in the county with a population of 2,500 people or less, 605 were recovered (99.3% in that category) while four were still active;
  • 467 total cases (10% of cases in the county; 427 positives from PCR tests and 40 positives from Antigen tests) reported in Knob Noster, 467 were recovered (100% of cases in Knob Noster) while none were still active;
  • 528 total cases (11.3% of cases in the county; 367 positives from PCR tests and 161 positives from Antigen tests) reported in Holden, 528 were recovered (100% of cases in Holden) while none were still active; 
  • 246 total cases (5.2% of cases in the county; 194 positives from PCR tests and 52 positives from Antigen tests) reported in Kingsville, 242 were recovered (98.4% of cases in Kingsville) while four were still active.

JCCHS also broke down the number of cases by age groups.

As of March 19, of the 4,691 cases in the county, 904 of those cases had been reported from those ages 20 to 24.

The age group with the second most reported cases was the age group of 10 to 19 with 649 cases.

Case numbers for all age groups include:

  • 126 from the age group of 0 to 9;
  • 649 from the age group of 10 to 19;
  • 904 from the age group of 20 to 24;
  • 379 from the age group of 25 to 29;
  • 304 from the age group of 30 to 34;
  • 312 from the age group of 35 to 39;
  • 282 from the age group of 40 to 44;
  • 270 from the age group of 45 to 49; 
  • 267 from the age group of 50 to 54;
  • 289 from the age group of 55 to 59;
  • 244 from the age group of 60 to 64;
  • 190 from the age group of 65 to 69;
  • 141 from the age group of 70 to 74;
  • 118 from the age group of 75 to 79; and
  • 216 from the age group of 80 years of age and older.
