WARRENSBURG – A distribution truck struck Cafe Du Burg during the breakfast rush in downtown Warrensburg on Friday, June 26.
The Warrensburg Police Department and the Warrensburg Fire Department responded to the call around 9:10 a.m. Officers on the scene said the driver was finishing a delivery at the Johnson County Care Home on 122 E. Market St. when he drove down the alley and hit the coffee shop’s corner wall between Brown’s Shoe Fit and the storefront on 211 N. Holden St.
The driver then tried to reverse the vehicle, striking the storefront a second time. The WPD and WFD closed down that end of Holden Street to guide the driver out, removing a tree limb in front of Awesome Blossoms at 212 N. Holden St. in the process.
Though a few of Cafe Du Burg’s bricks were knocked from the structure’s frame, no substantial damage was done to the building and no one was harmed.
The structure was deemed sound by local authorities, and Cafe Du Burg reopened for business at 9:34 a.m.
