WARRENSBURG – The City of Warrensburg is preparing for a winter storm to hit the area this week.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Warning to arrive late Wednesday night through Thursday. The current forecast includes temperatures of -40 to -30 wind chills, with snow between 2 to 4 inches and blowing snow with winds gusting to 40 mph.

According to a news release, the Assistant City Manager/Public Works Director is declaring that Phase I of the Emergency Snow Ordinance will go into effect at 10 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21. Citizens will be notified when the Phase 1 Emergency Snow Operations will be lifted/cease.

Vehicles on Emergency Snow Routes must be removed during this “Snow Emergency” or they will be towed at the owner’s expense.

The news release states that cul-de-sacs on all streets are included in the Phase I route designation. The absence of cars in cul-de-sacs allows plow trucks the required turning radius to maneuver for effective snow removal.

Phase I includes the following streets:

Gay Street, Water to Ridgeview

South Street, Main to Maguire

Grover Street, Holden to Mitchell

Clark Street, Holden to Mitchell

Houx Street, Washington to Holden

Washington, Business 50 to Houx

Clark Street, Main Street to Springridge Road

Additionally, all other residents are strongly advised to remove their vehicles from City streets to help expedite snow removal efforts.
