WMMC Foundation celebrates relief fund milestone

Posted

WARRENSBURG — The Western Missouri Medical Center Foundation has announced they have reached a milestone of giving out more than 100 Employee Relief Funds to WMMC employees.

Employee Relief Funds are $250 to $1,000 grants given to WMMC employees during a time of need.

“We don’t give out a certain amount a year,” Communications and Development Manager Jennie Snapp said.

The money that is raised for these funds is coordinated through the C.A.R.E.givers Committee, which is the employee-giving branch of the WMMC Foundation.

This group of employee volunteers oversees the C.A.R.E.givers Club, which all WMMC employees are eligible for starting at $1 per pay period or $25 per year.

Snapp said contributions to the fund are closed to the public but there are other ways the community can contribute to WMMC.

“The applications are completely confidential, you can either apply personally or you can be nominated by a peer,” Snapp said.

Snapp said there is criteria employees must meet to be eligible.

Since 2016, more than $190,000 has been raised by the C.A.R.E.givers Club and more than $60,000 has been distributed in the form of ERF’s.

“I just want to take a moment to share how incredibly grateful I am to have such an amazing group of employees here that I have the honor of working with at WMMC,” C.A.R.E.givers Committee Chair Jake Corson said. “Our employees are compassionate, giving, and supportive. We have accomplished so much over the past five years, from the Employee Relief Funds given out to the projects that support our facility and I couldn’t be more proud to be a part of it.”
