Warrensburg Farmers’ Market to begin regular season on May 1

Posted

WARRENSBURG — On Saturday, May 1, the Warrensburg Farmers’ Market will officially be open for the 2021 season.

The Farmers’ Market will run from May 1 until Sept. 25 and be open from 8 a.m. to noon, rain or shine, every Saturday on the Johnson County Courthouse square.

The Farmers’ Market has doubled in size this year and will have more than 30 vendors to kick off the season in 2021. The vendors will have an array of products including farm-fresh foods, handmade products, and baked goods. A full list of vendors and their goods will soon be made available on the Warrensburg Farmers’ Market website.

For those interested in becoming a vendor, the Farmers’ Market will continue to accept one-day vendor applications throughout the entire season and full-season vendor applications until July 31.

The market is also continuing its junior vendor program this season. Special market rates will be given to any local youth under 18 that would like to set up at the market with their homemade or homegrown products.

For more details, call WMS at 660-429-3988. Visit warrensburgmainstreet.org for an application or stop by the office at 125C N. Holden St., Warrensburg.

The Warrensburg Farmers’ Market is planning on hosting various special events throughout the upcoming season as well.

On May 15, the market will host its first special market event of the season, a celebration of local first responders. The market will host local first responders from across 10 local agencies that will feature a variety of activities and booths.

The market will update its social media pages for information on future special events, such as the Independence Day celebration, Doggie Day at the Market, Mules at the Market and Christmas in July Artisan Day.

In 2020, the market was able to navigate COVID-19 by implementing a variety of safety measures. As the community guidelines for COVID-19 are in a state of change and transition, the market will be offering hand-sanitizing stations at the welcome tent as well as encouraging vendors and customers to wear a mask when social distancing can not be achieved.

As the summer progresses, the market will reevaluate COVID-19 procedures to ensure the safety of the community.

The information tent will be located in front of the Johnson County Justice Center on West Market Street. The market encourages attendees to visit the welcome tent for information about the Farmers' Market, to purchase market merchandise or chat with Monica Mitchelltree, the market manager.

During opening day, the market will be giving away a limited number of market items at the information tent.
