WARRENSBURG — The University of Central Missouri Gallery of Art and Design unveils its 2021-22 season with exhibitions focusing on the professional practice of faculty in UCM Art and Design, along with a photography exhibition celebrating UCM’s sesquicentennial.

Opening Aug. 18, the annual Art and Design Faculty Exhibition features a wealth of artistic media, including painting, drawing, sculpture and textiles, while showcasing the professional practices of UCM’s art faculty outside of their university duties.

In addition to current faculty, several emeriti faculty also will have work on exhibit.

The annual Faculty Exhibition is supported by community partner, Murdock Banner Financial Group.

Also opening Aug. 18, “UCM Then and Now: Celebrating 150 Years,” features over a dozen photographs by Christian Cutler. Cutler, UCM Art Gallery director and practicing artist, has replicated photographs of the UCM campus and its students based upon vintage photographs ranging from the early 1900s through the year 2000.

The Faculty Exhibition runs through Sept. 18 and “UCM Then and Now: Celebrating 150 Years” runs through Oct. 30.

A public reception in honor of the opening of the exhibitions is planned for 4 to 6:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 30. The public is invited to attend and meet the artists. UCM’s Annual Provost’s Faculty Showcase follows the reception at 7 p.m. in Hart Recital Hall.

The showcase features the talents of faculty from the Department of Music and the Department of Theatre and Dance.
