The Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce, Warrensburg Main Street and the City of Warrensburg have partnered to bring the Love What’s Local Dog Days of Summer Community Sidewalk Sale to Warrensburg Aug. 13-14.
“The committee has worked together to enhance the local economy and provide a unique shopping experience to local residents by organizing this fun weekend event,” a Love What’s Local press release states.
On Friday, Aug. 13, and Saturday, Aug. 14, a wide variety of businesses throughout the greater Warrensburg area will be participating in the sidewalk sale.
Each participating business will have a Dog Days of Summer flyer in its window to allow shoppers to identify the local retailers participating in this weekend promotion.
“The Dog Days of Summer Sidewalk Sale is the perfect way to finish out the summer and encourage our community to explore the variety of businesses in Warrensburg,” Jill Purvis, executive director of Warrensburg Main Street, said.
Love What’s Local stated small businesses were heavily impacted by COVID 19 and the shortage of workers following the pandemic.
“These types of promotions are opportunities for our community to rally around these small businesses to show their support and encouragement after a time of uncertainty,” a Love What’s Local press release states.
The Love What’s Local committee stated its goal is to promote shopping and supporting local businesses and in turn, keeping dollars and tax money in the local economy.
“This is a perfect opportunity for Warrensburg to show support to all of our retail business and organizations and to Love What’s Local,” Suzanne Taylor, executive director of the Warrensburg Chamber of Commerce, said. “Where you buy directly impacts how much money stays in our community.”
Anyone that takes advantage of shopping during the Dog Days of Summer Sale can take a picture of their receipt from a participating business and send it to lovewhatslocalburg@gmail.com or through social media messengers. All receipts will be entered into a drawing for $50.
When submitting your receipts, make sure to include the date of purchase in the picture. Snapshots of your receipts are due at midnight Sunday, Aug. 15.
Two winners will be drawn on Monday, Aug. 16, and announced through the Love What’s Local online platforms.
