A man was killed in a crash at 1:34 p.m. Sunday in Johnson County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Josiah A. Musick, 17, of Holden, was traveling east on U.S. Route 50 when a southbound vehicle on Northwest 1601st Road driven by Jasper D. Smith, 33, of Kingsville, attempted to cross the median crossover and traveled into Musick’s path. Musick’s vehicle struck Smith’s and his vehicle traveled off the right side of the road, struck a utility pole and began to overturn before striking two traffic signs and a fence. Smith’s vehicle slid and came to a rest off the right side of the road.

Musick suffered minor injuries and was taken to Children’s Mercy Hospital in Independence by the Johnson County Ambulance District. Smith was pronounced deceased on scene by Johnson County Coroner Clark Holdren.
