Native Warm Season Grass Workshop to be held in Harrisonville

A Native Warm Season Grass Management Workshop will be held April 22 in the University of Missouri Extension office at 201 W. Wall St., Harrisonville.

The workshop begins at 9:30 a.m. and will conclude at 2 p.m. 

The workshop is dedicated to teaching landowners how to establish and manage native warm season grasses for grazing, haying or wildlife habitat. 

Topics of discussion will include establishment, native warm season grass varieties, grazing practices, hay production, costs and wildlife habitat benefits. 

MU Extension states native warm season grasses provide an excellent opportunity to provide a high-quality forage for grazing or haying during the summer months, while maintaining environmental quality and wildlife habitat.

The workshop is sponsored by MU Extension, Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) and Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS). 

The program is funded via a USDA-NRCS Conservation Partnership Grant. 

Lunch will be provided.
