EDMOND, Okla. - Koray Gilbert led all scorers with a career-high 26 points in the Mules’ 89-70 loss to Central Oklahoma on the road on Thursday, Jan. 14.
Central Oklahoma came out hot after their 25-day game break as the Bronchos shot over 50% in both halves to finish with a season-high 89 points.
The Bronchos finished the first 20 minutes 13-for-24, including a 5-for-9 performance behind the arc.
The Mules hit just 10-of-29 from the field and 4-of-16 from the three-point range to finish with 27 points at the half.
Central Oklahoma stayed hot through the break. After a made jump shot by Garrett Luinstra began the second-half offense, the Bronchos followed with an 8-0 run
Central Missouri improved their shooting by 10% in the second half to end the game 25-for-61.
The Mules struggles at the three-point range, hitting just 6-of-30. Free-throws also weren't falling in the Mules favor as UCM finished 14-for-24 for a season-low 58.3% at the line.
The Bronchos shooting only improved in the second half as they shot 55.6% from the field and 56.3% from the three to finish the game 28-for-51 (54.9%).
Central Oklahoma also recorded a season-high three-point percentage of 56% and a season-best free-throw percentage of 82.6%.
The Mules also came up short on the boards as UCM finished with 25 rebounds to UCO's 37.
Gilbert led the UCM offense with a career-high performance. The senior guard hit a career-best 10 field goals on 15 attempts and tied his career-high four three's. Gilbert added a pair of free-throws to finish with the game-high 26 points.
Mules basketball hits the road to Wichita, Kan. to take on the Newman Jets on Saturday, Jan. 16th. Tip-off is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
