Missouri 4-H is partnering with Feeding Missouri

Posted

Missouri 4-H is partnering with Feeding Missouri for the third annual statewide food drive. Every 4-H club in the state is invited to contribute. Feeding Missouri is a coalition of the state's six major food banks that work to provide hunger relief to every county in the state and the St. Louis City through a coordinated network of more than 1,500 community-based feeding programs. From Jan. 1 to April 30, 4-Hers across Missouri will engage in a friendly service competition to see which counties can contribute the greatest amount of food, cash contributions and volunteer hours. Through local food drives, fundraisers and educational events and presentations, 4-H’ers will also help raise awareness about hunger and food insecurity in Missouri where one in five children live in families that struggle to put enough food on the table.

Van Natta 4-H Club of Pettis County has placed boxes at both Woods stores and has already dropped off more than 200 pounds of food that will be going to Open Door.

The goal for 2021 is to raise 500,000 meals. Through local food drives, fundraisers and educational events and presentations, 4-H’ers will learn about and help raise awareness about hunger and food insecurity in Missouri. The need is even greater this year with the economic effect from COVID-19. People can donate by texting 4HFM2021 to 44-321.
