Martin Warren Chapter performs grandson grave marking ceremony

Posted

The Martin Warren Chapter, Missouri Society Sons of the American Revolution (MOSSAR),  performed a Patriot Grandson Grave Marking Ceremony on Oct. 16 in honor of Dr. Joel H. Warren, grandson of Revolutionary War Patriot Martin Warren Sr. The ceremony took place at the Knob Noster Cemetery.

This ceremony was the first of its kind to be performed by the Martin Warren Chapter. Missouri State Officers attending were Michael Powers, Second Vice President; Gene Henry, Secretary; and members of the MOSSAR Color Guard, Mark Parks and James Scott.

MOSSAR has made a diligent effort to locate and mark the graves of those patriots of the American Revolution who are buried in Missouri. This work, however, is only the beginning of the American Patriot story. This story continues with the sons and daughters of those brave Americans as both Patriots and their children moved across North America.

Many communities, states and organizations were founded by these patriot sons and daughters and by highlighting patriot sons, grandsons, daughters and granddaughters, the Martin Warren Chapter acknowledges its patriot ancestors, bringing attention to the 250th anniversary of America’s founding, which will occur in 2026.

The Martin Warren Chapter meets at 10:30 a.m. on the third Saturday of each month except February, July and August at the RISE Café in Warrensburg. Anyone with an interest in history and genealogy is welcome to attend. Luncheon reservations can be made or information regarding membership can be obtained by emailing the Chapter Secretary at pchemr@gmail.com.
