WARRENSBURG — Julie Lewis and Matt Sergent were reelected to the Warrensburg School Board of Education, each a three-year term, in the April 5 Municipal Election.

“I’m so honored to get to continue to serve as a member of our Warrensburg R-VI School Board,” Lewis said. “I really just have so much thankfulness and gratefulness for all the people who voted for me.”

Lewis said her goal is to continue serving students, teachers and community and striving for success for the students.

“I am truly passionate about keeping the momentum of all the hard work and diligence that we have been through in my first term, in the last two years,” Lewis said.

Sergent did not respond to the Star-Journal by press time.

Angela Tayloe has previously ran for the Board of Education.

“I think it’s important that parents pay attention to what’s going on,” Tayloe said. “I knew that it would be kind of hard to beat incumbent, but I wasn’t gonna let them run unopposed. I think it’s really important that parents pay attention to what’s being said and done in their classroom because what they’re deciding in Missouri DESE would be concerning to parents.”

Tayloe said she is undecided if she will run for office again.

James Miller was a first-time candidate.

“I honestly don’t have any comments on it,” Miller said. “It is what it is. Like I said, only 10 percent of the district comes out (to vote).”

Miller said he plans to run for office again.

“My daughter, she goes to kindergarten here so I’m definitely going to stay active,” Miller said.
