JCCHS updates demographic information of 6,252 total COVID-19 cases reported

JOHNSON COUNTY — Johnson County Community Health Services has released information in relation to the age and location of the confirmed positive cases of coronavirus in Johnson County as of Friday, Sept. 3.

According to the local COVID-19 dashboard, the county's death count is currently at 64.

JCCHS states that of the 6,252 confirmed positive cases in the county, 6,053 cases are considered recovered while 199 are still active.

The case count is an increase of 197 cases since Friday, Aug. 27. One hundred and ninety-four have been considered recovered since Aug. 27.

To be considered recovered, the Johnson County Task Force states a person who has tested positive must be seven days post-onset of symptoms and 72 hours fever free without the use of fever-reducing medication.

JCCHS stated the total number of administered tests as of Sept. 3 were 55,629 PCR tests and 45,341 Antigen tests.

The seven-day positivity rate for the county is 9.1% for PCR tests. The rate is 7.1% for all tests, including Antigen tests.

The state’s COVID-19 dashboard states 25.4% of Johnson County is fully vaccinated, 15,722 residents have received their first dose and 13,714 residents have completed their vaccine.

Of the 6,252 total cases reported by JCCHS, 3,653 came from Warrensburg for a total of 58.4% of the total cases. Of the positive cases, 2,963 were PCR tests and 690 were Antigen tests.

JCCHS states that 3,570, 97.7%, of the cases reported in Warrensburg were recovered while 83 were still active.

Of the remaining cases in the county, JCCHS states there were:

  • 823 total cases (13.2% of cases in the county; 663 positives from PCR tests and 160 positives from Antigen tests) reported in communities in the county with a population of 2,500 people or less, 786 were recovered (95.5% in that category) while 37 were still active;
  • 680 total cases (10.9% of cases in the county; 565 positives from PCR tests and 115 positives from Antigen tests) reported in Knob Noster, 636 were recovered (93.5% of cases in Knob Noster) while 44 were still active;
  • 726 total cases (11.6% of cases in the county; 507 positives from PCR tests and 219 positives from Antigen tests) reported in Holden, 701 were recovered (96.6% of cases in Holden) while 25 were still active; 
  • 370 total cases (5.9% of cases in the county; 293 positives from PCR tests and 77 positives from Antigen tests) reported in Kingsville, 360 were recovered (97.3% of cases in Kingsville) while 10 were still active.

JCCHS also broke down the number of cases by age groups.

As of Sept. 3, of the 6,252 cases in the county, 1,132 of those cases had been reported from those ages 20 to 24.

The age group with the second most reported cases was the age group of 10 to 19 with 849 cases.

Case numbers for all age groups include:

  • 213 from the age group of 0 to 9;
  • 849 from the age group of 10 to 19;
  • 1,132 from the age group of 20 to 24;
  • 519 from the age group of 25 to 29;
  • 441 from the age group of 30 to 34;
  • 446 from the age group of 35 to 39;
  • 431 from the age group of 40 to 44;
  • 351 from the age group of 45 to 49; 
  • 366 from the age group of 50 to 54;
  • 391 from the age group of 55 to 59;
  • 306 from the age group of 60 to 64;
  • 236 from the age group of 65 to 69;
  • 171 from the age group of 70 to 74;
  • 145 from the age group of 75 to 79; and
  • 255 from the age group of 80 years of age and older.
