JCCHS updates demographic information of 4,776 total COVID-19 cases reported

JOHNSON COUNTY — Johnson County Community Health Services has released information in relation to the age and location of the confirmed positive cases of coronavirus in Johnson County as of Wednesday, April 14.

According to the local COVID-19 dashboard, the county's death count is currently at 49.

JCCHS states that of the 4,776 confirmed positive cases in the county, 4,759 cases are considered recovered while 17 are still active.

The case count is an increase of 24 cases since Friday, April 2. Seventeen cases have been considered recovered since April 2.

To be considered recovered, the Johnson County Task Force states a person who has tested positive must be seven days post-onset of symptoms and 72 hours fever free without the use of fever-reducing medication.

Of the 4,776 total cases reported by JCCHS, 2,904 came from Warrensburg for a total of 60.8% of the total cases. Of the positive cases, 2,485 were PCR tests and 419 were Antigen tests.

JCCHS states that 2,893, 99.6%, of the cases reported in Warrensburg were recovered while 11 were still active.

Of the remaining cases in the county, JCCHS states there were:

  • 617 total cases (12.9% of cases in the county; 529 positives from PCR tests and 88 positives from Antigen tests) reported in communities in the county with a population of 2,500 people or less, 615 were recovered (99.7% in that category) while two were still active;
  • 477 total cases (10% of cases in the county; 431 positives from PCR tests and 46 positives from Antigen tests) reported in Knob Noster, 474 were recovered (99.4% of cases in Knob Noster) while three were still active;
  • 530 total cases (11.1% of cases in the county; 367 positives from PCR tests and 163 positives from Antigen tests) reported in Holden, 529 were recovered (99.8% of cases in Holden) while one was still active; 
  • 248 total cases (5.2% of cases in the county; 195 positives from PCR tests and 53 positives from Antigen tests) reported in Kingsville, 248 were recovered (100% of cases in Kingsville) while none were still active.

JCCHS also broke down the number of cases by age groups.

As of April 14, of the 4,776 cases in the county, 918 of those cases had been reported from those ages 20 to 24.

The age group with the second most reported cases was the age group of 10 to 19 with 659 cases.

Case numbers for all age groups include:

  • 130 from the age group of 0 to 9;
  • 659 from the age group of 10 to 19;
  • 918 from the age group of 20 to 24;
  • 388 from the age group of 25 to 29;
  • 316 from the age group of 30 to 34;
  • 317 from the age group of 35 to 39;
  • 289 from the age group of 40 to 44;
  • 273 from the age group of 45 to 49; 
  • 270 from the age group of 50 to 54;
  • 294 from the age group of 55 to 59;
  • 251 from the age group of 60 to 64;
  • 192 from the age group of 65 to 69;
  • 141 from the age group of 70 to 74;
  • 120 from the age group of 75 to 79; and
  • 218 from the age group of 80 years of age and older.
