JCCHS updates demographic information of 4,650 total COVID-19 cases reported

JOHNSON COUNTY — Johnson County Community Health Services has released information in relation to the age and location of the confirmed positive cases of coronavirus in Johnson County as of Friday, March 5.

According to the local COVID-19 dashboard, the county's death count is currently at 45.

JCCHS states that of the 4,650 confirmed positive cases in the county, 4,592 cases are considered recovered while 58 are still active.

The case count is an increase of 54 cases since Friday, Feb. 26. One hundred and three cases have been considered recovered since Feb. 26.

To be considered recovered, the Johnson County Task Force states a person who has tested positive must be seven days post-onset of symptoms and 72 hours fever free without the use of fever-reducing medication.

Of the 4,592 total cases reported by JCCHS, 2,815 came from Warrensburg for a total of 60.5% of the total cases. Of the positive cases, 2,444 were PCR tests and 371 were Antigen tests.

JCCHS states that 2,787, 99%, of the cases reported in Warrensburg were recovered while 28 were still active.

Of the remaining cases in the county, JCCHS states there were:

  • 600 total cases (12.9% of cases in the county; 521 positives from PCR tests and 79 positives from Antigen tests) reported in communities in the county with a population of 2,500 people or less, 592 were recovered (98.7% in that category) while eight were still active;
  • 466 total cases (10% of cases in the county; 426 positives from PCR tests and 40 positives from Antigen tests) reported in Knob Noster, 460 were recovered (98.7% of cases in Knob Noster) while six were still active;
  • 526 total cases (11.3% of cases in the county; 365 positives from PCR tests and 161 positives from Antigen tests) reported in Holden, 514 were recovered (97.7% of cases in Holden) while 12 were still active; 
  • 243 total cases (5.2% of cases in the county; 195 positives from PCR tests and 48 positives from Antigen tests) reported in Kingsville, 239 were recovered (98.4% of cases in Kingsville) while four were still active.

JCCHS also broke down the number of cases by age groups.

As of March 5, of the 4,650 cases in the county, 899 of those cases had been reported from those ages 20 to 24.

The age group with the second most reported cases was the age group of 10 to 19 with 648 cases.

Case numbers for all age groups include:

  • 123 from the age group of 0 to 9;
  • 648 from the age group of 10 to 19;
  • 899 from the age group of 20 to 24;
  • 376 from the age group of 25 to 29;
  • 296 from the age group of 30 to 34;
  • 308 from the age group of 35 to 39;
  • 277 from the age group of 40 to 44;
  • 269 from the age group of 45 to 49; 
  • 263 from the age group of 50 to 54;
  • 288 from the age group of 55 to 59;
  • 240 from the age group of 60 to 64;
  • 191 from the age group of 65 to 69;
  • 140 from the age group of 70 to 74;
  • 118 from the age group of 75 to 79; and
  • 214 from the age group of 80 years of age and older.
