JCCHS updates demographic information of 4,596 total COVID-19 cases reported

JOHNSON COUNTY — Johnson County Community Health Services has released information in relation to the age and location of the confirmed positive cases of coronavirus in Johnson County as of Friday, Feb. 26.

According to the local COVID-19 dashboard, the county's death count is currently at 45.

JCCHS states that of the 4,596 confirmed positive cases in the county, 4,489 cases are considered recovered while 107 are still active.

The case count is an increase of 123 cases since Friday, Feb. 12. Two hundred and forty cases have been considered recovered since Feb. 12.

To be considered recovered, the Johnson County Task Force states a person who has tested positive must be seven days post-onset of symptoms and 72 hours fever free without the use of fever-reducing medication.

Of the 4,596 total cases reported by JCCHS, 2,786 came from Warrensburg for a total of 60.6% of the total cases. Of the positive cases, 2,433 were PCR tests and 353 were Antigen tests.

JCCHS states that 2,719, 97.6%, of the cases reported in Warrensburg were recovered while 67 were still active.

Of the remaining cases in the county, JCCHS states there were:

  • 594 total cases (12.9% of cases in the county; 518 positives from PCR tests and 76 positives from Antigen tests) reported in communities in the county with a population of 2,500 people or less, 578 were recovered (97.3% in that category) while 16 were still active;
  • 462 total cases (10.1% of cases in the county; 422 positives from PCR tests and 40 positives from Antigen tests) reported in Knob Noster, 453 were recovered (98.1% of cases in Knob Noster) while nine were still active;
  • 516 total cases (11.2% of cases in the county; 359 positives from PCR tests and 157 positives from Antigen tests) reported in Holden, 505 were recovered (97.9% of cases in Holden) while 11 were still active; 
  • 238 total cases (5.2% of cases in the county; 193 positives from PCR tests and 45 positives from Antigen tests) reported in Kingsville, 234 were recovered (98.3% of cases in Kingsville) while 19 were still active.

JCCHS also broke down the number of cases by age groups.

As of Feb. 26, of the 4,596 cases in the county, 889 of those cases had been reported from those ages 20 to 24.

The age group with the second most reported cases was the age group of 10 to 19 with 642 cases.

Case numbers for all age groups include:

  • 121 from the age group of 0 to 9;
  • 642 from the age group of 10 to 19;
  • 889 from the age group of 20 to 24;
  • 372 from the age group of 25 to 29;
  • 293 from the age group of 30 to 34;
  • 307 from the age group of 35 to 39;
  • 275 from the age group of 40 to 44;
  • 267 from the age group of 45 to 49; 
  • 260 from the age group of 50 to 54;
  • 283 from the age group of 55 to 59;
  • 235 from the age group of 60 to 64;
  • 188 from the age group of 65 to 69;
  • 137 from the age group of 70 to 74;
  • 115 from the age group of 75 to 79; and
  • 212 from the age group of 80 years of age and older.
