JCCHS updates demographic information of 4,473 total COVID-19 cases reported

JOHNSON COUNTY — Johnson County Community Health Services has released information in relation to the age and location of the confirmed positive cases of coronavirus in Johnson County as of Friday, Feb. 12.

According to the local COVID-19 dashboard, the county's death count is currently at 40.

JCCHS states that of the 4,473 confirmed positive cases in the county, 4,249 cases are considered recovered while 184 are still active.

The case count is an increase of 88 cases since Friday, Feb. 5. Twenty-eight cases have been considered recovered since Feb. 5.

To be considered recovered, the Johnson County Task Force states a person who has tested positive must be seven days post-onset of symptoms and 72 hours fever free without the use of fever-reducing medication.

Of the 4,473 total cases reported by JCCHS, 2,703 came from Warrensburg for a total of 60.4% of the total cases. Of the positive cases, 2,373 were PCR tests and 330 were Antigen tests.

JCCHS states that 2,556, 94.6%, of the cases reported in Warrensburg were recovered while 147 were still active.

Of the remaining cases in the county, JCCHS states there were:

  • 584 total cases (13.1% of cases in the county; 508 positives from PCR tests and 70 positives from Antigen tests) reported in communities in the county with a population of 2,500 people or less, 558 were recovered (95.5% in that category) while 26 were still active;
  • 454 total cases (10% of cases in the county; 413 positives from PCR tests and 41 positives from Antigen tests) reported in Knob Noster, 444 were recovered (98.9% of cases in Knob Noster) while 5 were still active;
  • 502 total cases (11.2% of cases in the county; 350 positives from PCR tests and 152 positives from Antigen tests) reported in Holden, 475 were recovered (94.6% of cases in Holden) while 27 were still active; 
  • 235 total cases (5.3% of cases in the county; 191 positives from PCR tests and 44 positives from Antigen tests) reported in Kingsville, 216 were recovered (91.9% of cases in Kingsville) while 19 were still active.

JCCHS also broke down the number of cases by age groups.

As of Feb. 12, of the 4,473 cases in the county, 864 of those cases had been reported from those ages 20 to 24.

The age group with the second most reported cases was the age group of 10 to 19 with 626 cases.

Case numbers for all age groups include:

  • 115 from the age group of 0 to 9;
  • 626 from the age group of 10 to 19;
  • 864 from the age group of 20 to 24;
  • 363 from the age group of 25 to 29;
  • 280 from the age group of 30 to 34;
  • 298 from the age group of 35 to 39;
  • 271 from the age group of 40 to 44;
  • 256 from the age group of 45 to 49; 
  • 259 from the age group of 50 to 54;
  • 278 from the age group of 55 to 59;
  • 230 from the age group of 60 to 64;
  • 182 from the age group of 65 to 69;
  • 133 from the age group of 70 to 74;
  • 112 from the age group of 75 to 79; and
  • 206 from the age group of 80 years of age and older.
