JCCHS updates demographic information of 4,385 total COVID-19 cases reported

JOHNSON COUNTY — Johnson County Community Health Services has released information in relation to the age and location of the confirmed positive cases of coronavirus in Johnson County as of Friday, Feb. 5.

According to the local COVID-19 dashboard, the county's death count is currently at 38.

JCCHS states that of the 4,385 confirmed positive cases in the county, 4,221 cases are considered recovered while 129 are still active.

The case count is an increase of 237 cases since Friday, Jan. 22. Four hundred and thirty-three cases have been considered recovered since Jan. 22.

To be considered recovered, the Johnson County Task Force states a person who has tested positive must be seven days post-onset of symptoms and 72 hours fever free without the use of fever-reducing medication.

Of the 4,385 total cases reported by JCCHS, 2,650 came from Warrensburg for a total of 60.4% of the total cases. Of the positive cases, 2,333 were PCR tests and 316 were Antigen tests.

JCCHS states that 2,545, 96%, of the cases reported in Warrensburg were recovered while 105 were still active.

Of the remaining cases in the county, JCCHS states there were:

  • 574 total cases (13.1% of cases in the county; 504 positives from PCR tests and 70 positives from Antigen tests) reported in communities in the county with a population of 2,500 people or less, 556 were recovered (96.9% in that category) while 18 were still active;
  • 449 total cases (10.2% of cases in the county; 409 positives from PCR tests and 40 positives from Antigen tests) reported in Knob Noster, 443 were recovered (98.7% of cases in Knob Noster) while 6 were still active;
  • 485 total cases (11.1% of cases in the county; 339 positives from PCR tests and 146 positives from Antigen tests) reported in Holden, 464 were recovered (95.7% of cases in Holden) while 21 were still active; 
  • 227 total cases (5.2% of cases in the county; 186 positives from PCR tests and 41 positives from Antigen tests) reported in Kingsville, 213 were recovered (93.8% of cases in Kingsville) while 14 were still active.

JCCHS also broke down the number of cases by age groups.

As of Feb. 5, of the 4,385 cases in the county, 855 of those cases had been reported from those ages 20 to 24.

The age group with the second most reported cases was the age group of 10 to 19 with 616 cases.

Case numbers for all age groups include:

  • 112 from the age group of 0 to 9;
  • 616 from the age group of 10 to 19;
  • 855 from the age group of 20 to 24;
  • 354 from the age group of 25 to 29;
  • 276 from the age group of 30 to 34;
  • 288 from the age group of 35 to 39;
  • 266 from the age group of 40 to 44;
  • 252 from the age group of 45 to 49; 
  • 248 from the age group of 50 to 54;
  • 274 from the age group of 55 to 59;
  • 222 from the age group of 60 to 64;
  • 177 from the age group of 65 to 69;
  • 130 from the age group of 70 to 74;
  • 111 from the age group of 75 to 79; and
  • 204 from the age group of 80 years of age and older.
