JCCHS updates demographic information of 4,148 total COVID-19 cases reported

JOHNSON COUNTY — Johnson County Community Health Services has released information in relation to the age and location of the confirmed positive cases of coronavirus in Johnson County as of Friday, Jan. 22.

According to the local COVID-19 dashboard, the county's death count is currently at 34.

JCCHS states that of the 4,148 confirmed positive cases in the county, 3,788 cases are considered recovered while 326 are still active.

The case count is an increase of 135 cases since Friday, Jan. 15. One hundred and fifty-four cases have been considered recovered since Jan. 15.

To be considered recovered, the Johnson County Task Force states a person who has tested positive must be seven days post-onset of symptoms and 72 hours fever free without the use of fever-reducing medication.

Of the 4,148 total cases reported by JCCHS, 2,521 came from Warrensburg for a total of 60.8% of the total cases. Of the positive cases, 2,264 were PCR tests and 256 were Antigen tests.

JCCHS states that 2,322, 92.1%, of the cases reported in Warrensburg were recovered while 199 were still active.

Of the remaining cases in the county, JCCHS states there were:

  • 540 total cases (13% of cases in the county; 479 positives from PCR tests and 61 positives from Antigen tests) reported in communities in the county with a population of 2,500 people or less, 481 were recovered (89.1% in that category) while 59 were still active;
  • 442 total cases (10.7% of cases in the county; 406 positives from PCR tests and 37 positives from Antigen tests) reported in Knob Noster, 423 were recovered (95.7% of cases in Knob Noster) while 19 were still active;
  • 444 total cases (10.7% of cases in the county; 316 positives from PCR tests and 128 positives from Antigen tests) reported in Holden, 386 were recovered (86.9% of cases in Holden) while 58 were still active; 
  • 201 total cases (4.8% of cases in the county; 169 positives from PCR tests and 32 positives from Antigen tests) reported in Kingsville, 176 were recovered (87.6% of cases in Kingsville) while 25 were still active.

JCCHS also broke down the number of cases by age groups.

As of Jan. 22, of the 4,148 cases in the county, 796 of those cases had been reported from those ages 20 to 24.

The age group with the second most reported cases was the age group of 10 to 19 with 587 cases.

Case numbers for all age groups include:

  • 104 from the age group of 0 to 9;
  • 587 from the age group of 10 to 19;
  • 796 from the age group of 20 to 24;
  • 337 from the age group of 25 to 29;
  • 258 from the age group of 30 to 34;
  • 275 from the age group of 35 to 39;
  • 250 from the age group of 40 to 44;
  • 242 from the age group of 45 to 49; 
  • 237 from the age group of 50 to 54;
  • 256 from the age group of 55 to 59;
  • 213 from the age group of 60 to 64;
  • 168 from the age group of 65 to 69;
  • 126 from the age group of 70 to 74;
  • 105 from the age group of 75 to 79; and
  • 194 from the age group of 80 years of age and older.
