JCCHS updates demographic information of 4,013 total COVID-19 cases reported

JOHNSON COUNTY — Johnson County Community Health Services has released information in relation to the age and location of the confirmed positive cases of coronavirus in Johnson County as of Friday, Jan. 15.

According to the local COVID-19 dashboard, the county's death count is currently at 34.

JCCHS states that of the 4,013 confirmed positive cases in the county, 3,634 cases are considered recovered while 345 are still active.

The case count is an increase of 125 cases since Friday, Jan. 8. One hundred and eighty-seven cases have been considered recovered since Jan. 8.

To be considered recovered, the Johnson County Task Force states a person who has tested positive must be seven days post-onset of symptoms and 72 hours fever free without the use of fever-reducing medication.

JCCHS states the total number of tests given is 35,413 and the PCR seven-day positivity rate is 11%.

Of the 4,013 total cases reported by JCCHS, 2,470 came from Warrensburg for a total of 61.5% of the total cases. Of the positive cases, 2,224 were PCR tests and 245 were Antigen tests.

JCCHS states that 2,271, 91.9%, of the cases reported in Warrensburg were recovered while 199 were still active.

Of the remaining cases in the county, JCCHS states there were:

  • 516 total cases (12.9% of cases in the county; 465 positives from PCR tests and 46 positives from Antigen tests) reported in communities in the county with a population of 2,500 people or less, 452 were recovered (87.6% in that category) while 64 were still active;
  • 433 total cases (10.8% of cases in the county; 398 positives from PCR tests and 35 positives from Antigen tests) reported in Knob Noster, 408 were recovered (94.2% of cases in Knob Noster) while 25 were still active;
  • 405 total cases (10.1% of cases in the county; 305 positives from PCR tests and 100 positives from Antigen tests) reported in Holden, 338 were recovered (83.5% of cases in Holden) while 67 were still active; 
  • 189 total cases (4.7% of cases in the county; 162 positives from PCR tests and 27 positives from Antigen tests) reported in Kingsville, 165 were recovered (87.3% of cases in Kingsville) while 24 were still active.

JCCHS also broke down the number of cases by age groups.

As of Jan. 15, of the 4,013 cases in the county, 777 of those cases had been reported from those ages 20 to 24.

The age group with the second most reported cases was the age group of 10 to 19 with 573 cases.

Case numbers for all age groups include:

  • 101 from the age group of 0 to 9;
  • 573 from the age group of 10 to 19;
  • 777 from the age group of 20 to 24;
  • 319 from the age group of 25 to 29;
  • 251 from the age group of 30 to 34;
  • 266 from the age group of 35 to 39;
  • 240 from the age group of 40 to 44;
  • 232 from the age group of 45 to 49; 
  • 232 from the age group of 50 to 54;
  • 248 from the age group of 55 to 59;
  • 209 from the age group of 60 to 64;
  • 162 from the age group of 65 to 69;
  • 121 from the age group of 70 to 74;
  • 103 from the age group of 75 to 79; and
  • 179 from the age group of 80 years of age and older.
