JCCHS reports 6,368 total COVID-19 cases

JOHNSON COUNTY — Johnson County Community Health Services has released information in relation to the age and location of the confirmed positive cases of coronavirus in Johnson County as of Friday, Sept. 10.

According to the local COVID-19 dashboard, the county's death count is currently at 64.

JCCHS states that of the 6,368 confirmed positive cases in the county, 6,209 cases are considered recovered while 159 are still active. The case count is an increase of 116 cases since Friday, Sept. 3. 

One hundred and fifty-six have been considered recovered since Sept. 3. To be considered recovered, the Johnson County Task Force states a person who has tested positive must be seven days post-onset of symptoms and 72 hours fever free without the use of fever-reducing medication.

JCCHS stated the total number of administered tests as of Sept. 10 were 56,609 PCR tests and 46,629 antigen tests.

The seven-day positivity rate for the county is 11.7% for PCR tests. The rate is 9% for all tests, including antigen tests.

The state’s COVID-19 dashboard states 25.8% of Johnson County is fully vaccinated, 15,933 residents have received their first dose and 13,972 residents have completed their vaccine.

Of the 6,368 total cases reported by JCCHS, 3,702 came from Warrensburg for a total of 58.1% of the total cases. Of the positive cases, 2,995 were PCR tests and 707 were antigen tests.

JCCHS states that 3,636, 98.2%, of the cases reported in Warrensburg were recovered while 66 were still active.

Of the remaining cases in the county, JCCHS states there were:

  • 836 total cases (13.1% of cases in the county; 673 positives from PCR tests and 163 positives from antigen tests) reported in communities in the county with a population of 2,500 people or less, 819 were recovered (98% in that category) while 17 were still active;
  • 711 total cases (11.2% of cases in the county; 584 positives from PCR tests and 127 positives from antigen tests) reported in Knob Noster, 665 were recovered (93.5% of cases in Knob Noster) while 46 were still active;
  • 740 total cases (11.6% of cases in the county; 517 positives from PCR tests and 223 positives from antigen tests) reported in Holden, 720 were recovered (97.3% of cases in Holden) while 20 were still active; 
  • 379 total cases (6% of cases in the county; 301 positives from PCR tests and 78 positives from antigen tests) reported in Kingsville, 369 were recovered (97.4% of cases in Kingsville) while 10 were still active.

JCCHS also broke down the number of cases by age group.

As of Sept. 10, of the 6,368 cases in the county, 1,140 of those cases had been reported from those ages 20 to 24. The age group with the second most reported cases was the age group of 10 to 19 with 888 cases.

Case numbers for all age groups include:

  • 222 from the age group of 0 to 9;
  • 888 from the age group of 10 to 19;
  • 1,140 from the age group of 20 to 24;
  • 526 from the age group of 25 to 29;
  • 451 from the age group of 30 to 34;
  • 458 from the age group of 35 to 39;
  • 436 from the age group of 40 to 44;
  • 354 from the age group of 45 to 49; 
  • 369 from the age group of 50 to 54;
  • 398 from the age group of 55 to 59;
  • 311 from the age group of 60 to 64;
  • 236 from the age group of 65 to 69;
  • 172 from the age group of 70 to 74;
  • 149 from the age group of 75 to 79; and
  • 258 from the age group of 80 years of age and older.
