Home & Garden Show to feature nearly 70 regional vendors

Posted

Just in time for spring home improvement season, the Sedalia Democrat is hosting its inaugural Home & Garden Show on April 10.

Nearly 70 regional vendors will be in the Mathewson Exhibition Center ready to talk with area residents about their home and garden needs. Vendors include plants, real estate, insurance, windows, solar applications, home security, doors, decking, fencing, creations, mowers, roofing, landscaping, and many others. Many of the vendors will be offering specials only available at the Home & Garden Show.

“I am beyond excited to bring back this Home & Garden Show,” Democrat and Star-Journal Advertising Manager Julie White said. “In addition to a wide array of vendors for any kind of home project you want or need to do, there will be live interactive presentations for the entire family throughout the entire day. You are not going to want to miss these vendors that are coming from all over the region, from Springfield to Columbia to Kansas City and of course Sedalia.”

In addition to the vendor booths, there will be live presentations and demonstrations almost every hour:

10 a.m.: The top five teams in the Get Fit Challenge hosted by the Sedalia Democrat and Warrensburg Star-Journal will receive their prize checks and a donation will be presented to an area nonprofit, as selected by the overall Get Fit winner.

11 a.m.: The Missouri Department of Conservation will be on hand with Missouri furs and visitors can meet Pettis County’s new conservation agent.

Noon: Visitors can talk with the Sedalia Police Department and meet the department’s support dog, Kya.

1 p.m.: The Civil Air Patrol will have a flight simulator and will show off their recent model plane projects.

2 p.m.: Southern Sown Farms will offer a demonstration on how to pot sun, shade and succulent planters for your home that last all season. Southern Sown will be covering container selection, plant compatibility, soil to use, design tips, and watering requirements. Those who stop by the presentation can take home a small succulent while supplies last.

3 p.m.: The Sedalia Fire Department will be presenting fire prevention tips and offering fire extinguisher training.

Door prizes will also be given out at the top of each hour.

Thorni Ridge Exotics will have a selfie station all day and for only $5, visitors can get a photo with a kangaroo, lemurs, alligators, or an African Spurred Tortoise.

In the April 7 edition of the Democrat, Plainsman and Star-Advertiser and the April 9 edition of the Warrensburg Star-Journal, readers will find a Spring Home Improvement special section full of stories, information about the upcoming event, and ads from vendors. Show visitors are encouraged to bring their copy to the event and use the notes pages when meeting with vendors about their home improvement projects.

The Home & Garden Show will be hosted from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 10 in the Mathewson Exhibition Center on the Missouri State Fairgrounds. It is free and open to the public. For more information, call the Democrat at 660-826-1000.
