Moderate injuries reported in May 13 wreck 

One person is reported to have moderate injuries from a single-vehicle wreck May 13 on Southwest 910 Road east of Southwest 21 Road. 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the wreck occurred when a 2007 Buick Lucerne, driven by Barbara J. Smith, 60, of Leeton, attempted to avoid a deer in the roadway, traveled off the left side of the roadway and struck a post before coming to rest in a shallow creek. 

Smith is reported to have moderate injuries and was transported to Western Missouri Medical Center. 

Smith is reported to have worn a safety device. 

The Buick is reported to have moderate damage. 

Serious injuries reported in May 14 wreck 

One person is reported to have serious injuries from a single-vehicle wreck May 14 on Northwest Highway 50 at Northwest 1201 Road. 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the wreck occurred when a 2014 Harley-Davidson, driven by Robert A. Elliott, 65, of Blue Springs, failed to negotiate a curve, traveled off the right side of the roadway, struck a culvert, became airborne and overturned, ejecting the driver. 

Elliott is reported to have serious injuries and was transported by the Johnson County Ambulance District to Research Medical Center in Kansas City. 

The Harley-Davidson is reported to be a total loss. 

MSHP was assisted by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office.
