Moderate injuries reported in June 6 wreck 

One person is reported to have moderate injuries from a two-vehicle wreck June 6 on Northwest 1601 Road at Highway 50. 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the wreck occurred when a 1999 Ford FS50, driven by Cordell E. Boyd, 27, of Kingsville, failed to yield and struck a 2005 Buick Lesabre, driven by Karla D. McAlister, 65, of Lone Jack. 

McAlister is reported to have moderate injuries and was transported to Western Missouri Medical Center. 

Minor injuries reported in June 6 wreck 

One person is reported to have minor injuries from a two-vehicle wreck June 6 on Highway 13 at East Division Road. 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the wreck occurred when a 2017 Nissan Rogue, driven by Curtis E. Truelove, 78, of Warrensburg, was stopped for traffic and was struck by a 2015 Dodge Dart driven by a juvenile of Warrensburg. 

The juvenile is reported to have minor injuries and was transported by personal vehicle to Western Missouri Medical Center. 

MSHP was assisted by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office. 

Fatal injuries reported in June 7 wreck

One fatality is reported from a two-vehicle wreck June 7 on Highway 13 at Southeast 300 Road. 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the wreck occurred when a 1985 Honda motorcycle, driven by James Slavens, 52, of Lee’s Summit, traveled into the path of and was struck by a 2019 Kenworth tractor-trailer, driven by James Chapman Jr, 44, of Fort Scott Kansas.

Slavens was pronounced dead by Johnson County Coroner Clark Holdren. 

Slavens is reported to have not worn a safety device. Chapman is reported to have worn a safety device.

The Kenworth is reported to have extensive damage.

The Honda is reported to be a total loss. 

The MSHP was assisted by the Warrensburg Police Department and the Johnson County Sheriff's Office.

This was the 23rd fatal wreck in Troop A this year.
