One person seriously injured in Aug. 7 wreck

One person is reported to have serious injuries following a two-vehicle wreck on Aug. 7 on Eastbound Highway 50. Five others are reported to have minor injuries. 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the wreck occurred when a 2017 Nissan Rogue, driven by Jason Eckhart, 28, of Knob Noster, struck the back of a 2015 Toyota, driven by Narsy Sirom, 34, of Sedalia, causing the Nissan to travel off of the road and strike multiple trees. 

Eckhart is reported to have serious injuries and was transported by Life Flight to Research Medical Center in Kansas City. Occupants Kathryn Monk, Kalie Crawford, and Allen Foster are reported to have minor injuries and were transported to Western Missouri Medical Center. Occupants Leboy Liwis and Bridgette Peters are reported to have minor injuries and refused medical treatment at the scene. 

Crawford and Liwis are reported to have worn a safety device. Monk, Eckhart, Allen, and Peters are reported to have not worn a safety device.

The Nissan is reported to be a total loss. The Toyota is reported to have extensive damage.

The MSHP was assisted by the Johnson County Sheriff's Office and the Knob Noster Police Department.  

Moderate injuries reported in single-vehicle wreck

One person is reported to have moderate injuries from a single-vehicle wreck on Aug. 7 at the South Roundabout on Business Highway 13.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the wreck occurred when a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by Frederick Hartwig, 72, of Lone Jack, mistakenly accelerated and traveled into a ditch on the right side of the roadway. 

Hartwig is reported to have moderate injuries and was transported to Western Missouri Medical Center.

Hartwig is reported to have worn a safety device.

The Hyundai is reported to have moderate damage.
