Three people injured in Aug. 22 wreck involving tractor

Two people are reported to have serious injuries and one person is reported to have moderate injuries from a two-vehicle wreck Aug. 22 in the 700 block of Highway Z. 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the wreck occurred when a 2004 Ford F350, driven by Albert D. Fike, 65, of Holden, was traveling at a high rate of speed and struck the rear of a 2008 John Deere Tractor, driven by a 15-year-old. 

The juvenile driver is reported to have moderate injuries and was transported by the Johnson County Ambulance District to Children’s Mercy. An occupant juvenile, 13, is reported to have serious injuries and was transported by JCAD to Children’s Mercy. Fike is reported to have serious injuries and was transported by JCAD to Western Missouri Medical Center. 

The juveniles are each reported to have not worn a safety device. Fike is reported to have worn a safety device. 

The tractor is reported to have extensive damage. The Ford is reported to be a total loss. 

MSHP was assisted by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office. 

Serious injuries reported in Aug. 23 wreck 

Two people are reported to have serious injuries from a two-vehicle wreck Aug. 23 on Highway 13 at Veterans Road. 

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the wreck occurred when a 2005 Ford, driven by Emily R. Adams, 21, of Warrensburg, turned left, and failed to yield to a 2015 Jeep, driven by James O. Kissick, 77 of Warsaw. The Jeep struck the Ford and overturned. 

James Kissick and occupant Linda E. Kissick, 74, are each reported to have serious injuries and were transported by LifeFlight to Truman Medical Center in Kansas City. 

James Kissick and Linda Kissick are each reported to have not worn a safety device. Adams is reported to have worn a safety device. 

The Ford is reported to have minor damage. The Jeep is reported to be a total loss.
