Illinois woman hurt in Johnson crash

An Orland Park, Illinois, woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 3:32 p.m. Friday, April 14 in Johnson County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Aaron G. Grumet, 19, of Brighton, Ohio, was driving a 2007 Toyota 4Runner east on U.S. Highway 50 west of Northwest 1051st Road when he slowed for a vehicle turning left onto 1051st. Jean R. Pellegrini, 54, was eastbound, driving a 1992 GMC Vandura and struck the rear of Grumet’s vehicle. Pellegrini’s vehicle came to rest in the left lane of Highway 50 and Grumet’s vehicle came to rest in the median.

Pellegrini, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by the Johnson County Ambulance District to Western Missouri Medical Center for minor injuries.

MSHP was assisted by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department.

Concordia man hurt in Johnson crash

A Concordia man was injured in a two-vehicle accident at 5:42 p.m. Friday, April 14 in Johnson County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Carney L. Schnakenberg, 77, was driving a 2006 Ford Ranger west on U.S. Highway 50 east of Northwest 401st Road. He was in the right lane with his right turn signal activated, then he activated his left turn signal and changed lanes into the path of a westbound 2018 Honda Fit driven by Allison E. Dyer, 18, of Lee’s Summit. Dyer’s vehicle struck Schnakenberg’s vehicle, which came to rest in the crossover. Dyer’s vehicle came to rest on the right shoulder of 401st Road.

Schnakenberg, who was wearing a seat belt, sustained minor injuries and refused medical treatment at the scene.

MSHP was assisted by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department.

Holden teen hurt in Johnson accident

A 17-year-old male from Holden sustained moderate injuries in a three-vehicle accident at 10:50 a.m. Saturday, April 15 in Johnson County.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Mark D. Hook, 69, of Higginsville, was completing a turn onto westbound U.S. Highway 50 at Northwest 142nd Road in a 2011 Ford. The 17-year-old was driving westbound in a 2011 BMW when he overtook a westbound 2005 Cadillac CTS driven by Dalton L. Kempfer, 25, of Merriam, Kansas. The juvenile struck Hook’s towed unit. After impact, Kempfer’s vehicle struck the rear of the juvenile’s vehicle and overturned.

The juvenile was taken by Johnson County Ambulance District to Western Missouri Medical Center.

The report indicates Kempfer was wearing a seat belt, but the juvenile and Hook were not.
