Community members recognized by MU Extension Leader’s Honor Roll

Posted

JOHNSON COUNTY — The University of Missouri Extension - Johnson County recognized three individuals this past year through the Leader’s Honor Roll for their contributions and support of programs in Johnson County.

The MU Extension’s Leader’s Honor Roll program is intended to honor outstanding MU Extension community leaders who have excelled in supporting or co-teaching, named programs.

Selection is based on community leadership efforts which support MU Extension’s strategic direction and program priorities to enhance economic viability; build strong individuals, families and communities; and create and sustain healthy environments.

Sandra Streit

Streit is serving the last of her second term on the Extension Council, although she served two terms prior to her current standing. She has presided as Chair of this governing board the past two years and was recently selected to serve on the state-wide Extension advisory council. She was just elected Treasurer of the Council for the 2021-22 year. Streit previously served as a club leader for the Chilhowee Indians 4-H Club when her children were growing up through 4-H.

“Her leadership and support of activities in Johnson County is appreciated by the Extension Council, the faculty and staff of the local Extension and the community,” a MU Extension press release states.

Dana Raker

Raker is the Editor of the Holden Image. A MU Extension press release states Raker is always willing and supportive of assisting in sharing Extension programs and the success of program participants.

“Sharing information regarding our programs (whether it is a cattle feeding workshop, bee workshop), our services (soil sampling, feed testing) or recognizing the 4-H kids and volunteers through their special events and awards and recognition, has made her a great partner in sharing information and recognizing the youth in our community,” a MU Extension press release states.

Barie Krewson

Krewson is a long-time 4-H member and leader for Johnson County. She also serves as the secretary to the Johnson County Livestock Committee which allows 4-H members and other area youth to showcase their animal projects for the year.

“Leading efforts to pivot activities during the pandemic, she was still able to provide a livestock show and sale benefiting Johnson County youth,” a MU Extension press release states.

The new honorees each year are typically recognized at the Extension Council’s Annual Meeting and Banquet.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions this year, MU Extension states they will be recognized individually as the environment allows.

Streit was presented her award at the Extension Council meeting Feb. 22 and arrangements are pending for Raker and Krewson.
