During the 34th annual Whiteman Memorial Wreath Laying Ceremony Saturday at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sedalia, family members of the late 2nd Lt. George A. Whiteman lay a wreath on his grave. Whiteman, of Sedalia, was killed on Dec. 7, 1941, in the attack on Pearl Harbor. Whiteman Air Force Base is named for Whiteman, who is the first known casualty of World War II.
