FOR CITY COUNCIL
CITY OF WARRENSBURG,
MISSOURI
PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that Declarations of Candidacy for City Council will be accepted in the office of the City Clerk at
Warrensburg City Hall
102 S. Holden
Warrensburg, Missouri
beginning at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2024 and ending at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 31, 2024.
Office hours are 8:00 a.m. through 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, except when the offices are closed on Wednesday, December 25, 2024, in observance of the Christmas holiday.
There are two city council member positions to be elected for a three-year term.
The municipal general election will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. On the first day of filing, Tuesday, December 10, 2024, the order in which such candidates' names shall appear on the ballot will be determined by random lottery drawing pursuant to 115.124(2) RSMo. The City Clerk shall record the number drawn with the candidate's declaration of candidacy and the names of candidates filing on the first day shall be listed on the ballot in the ascending order of the numbers drawn.
A candidate's eligibility includes:
(a) at least twenty-one (21) years of age prior to taking office, a citizen of the United States, and an inhabitant and resident of the city for one (1) year next preceding the date of the municipal election (RSMo.77.060); and
(b) not guilty of, or pled guilty to, a felony under federal, Missouri laws, or an offense committed in another state that would be considered a felony in this state (RSMo.115.306.1); and
(c) not delinquent in the filing or payment of any state income taxes, personal property taxes, municipal taxes, real property taxes on the place of residence, as stated on the declaration of candidacy, or as a past or present corporate officer of any fee office that owes any taxes to the state, other than those taxes which may be in dispute (RSMo.115.306.2); and
(d) a registered voter under the
laws and constitution of the
State of Missouri and the
ordinances of the City of
Warrensburg; and has no out-standing reports due to, or fees assessed by, the Missouri Ethics Commission (RSMo.130.071).
