Bates City man hurt in motorcycle crash

An 18-year-old man from Bates City suffered moderate injuries in a Johnson County motorcycle accident at 6:13 p.m. Sunday, July 5.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, he was driving a 2020 Kawasaki Z125 eastbound in the 1600 block of NW 800th RD when he began to wheelie, lost control and was ejected.

The man was not wearing a helmet.

He was transported to Research Medical Center in Kansas City.

10-year-old hurt in UTV accident

A 10-year-old female from Warrensburg suffered moderate injuries in a Johnson County UTV accident at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, July 5.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, she was driving a 2011 Polaris RZR southbound in the 500 block of SE 300th RD when she attempted to travel through a ditch. The front of the vehicle impacted a tree stump, causing the vehicle to abruptly stop.

She was wearing a seat belt and was transported to Western Missouri Medical Center.
