The University of Central Missouri has announced traffic impacts for the area ahead of the scheduled Thursday, Aug. 14, UCM Kick-Off move-in day.
Temporary traffic changes and designated routes will be in effect surrounding the campus area. Move-in is scheduled to take place from 9 a.m to 3 p.m., with an increased traffic volume expected for the area.
Near the Ellis Complex, the 300 block of Christopher Street will be eastbound only off of South Maguire. Westbound traffic will be closed at Zoll Street.
Near South Yeater, Todd and Fitzgerald Halls, South Holden Street from East Clark Street to East Hunt Street will be open to southbound traffic only. Houx Street will be open to westbound traffic only.
Near Houts, Hosey and Nickerson Halls, South Washington Street from Houx to King Street will be northbound only. No southbound traffic will be allowed from King Street.
UCM’s release encourages students to avoid South Maguire due to congestion.
The latest ReThink Maguire Project update states there are no anticipated road closures or detours during move-in on Thursday and Friday.
From Monday, Aug 11 through Wednesday, Aug. 13, South Maguire Street will be closed from Grover Street to Broad Street for concrete work. Residents should use Grover Street to Holden Street to East South Street to detour. Lane shifts are also expected throughout the week.
The public is encouraged to use caution when traveling through the Maguire Street Area.
