Sons of the American Revolution to host Liberty Tree planting ceremony

Posted

The Sons of the American Revolution (SAR) cordially invite the community to a momentous Liberty Tree planting ceremony at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 16, at the Johnson County Historical Society, 302 N Main St..

A Living Symbol of Freedom

The SAR will commemorate the spirit of 1776 by planting a Liberty Tree – a tribute to the famous Boston Elm where the first acts of colonial defiance began. This new tree will stand as a lasting monument to our founding principles and the brave individuals who defended them.

Honoring a Local Hero

The afternoon’s guest of honor is Warrensburg’s own namesake, Private Martin Warren. A veteran of the Virginia Continental Line, Warren endured the brutal winter at Valley Forge under General George Washington. Following his service, he established the blacksmith shop that became the heart of the community.

Experience Living History

The ceremony will feature: A Liberty Tree Planting Ceremony, Presentation of Colors by the SAR Color Guard in Authentic Revolutionary War uniforms and a Flintlock Musket Salute to Honor Private Martin Warren.

The event is free and open to the public. Come help celebrate local roots and the history that shaped our nation.
