A Johnson County business was destroyed in a fire early Thursday, Feb. 6.
The Johnson County Fire Protection District responded to W.A. Jackson Firearms at 682 NW 11th Road, located north of Warrensburg in the area of Missouri Highway 13 and NW 700 Road, at 1:15 a.m. to investigate a report of a burning fire.
According to JCFPD, the business owner was inside the structure at the time of the fire, but was able to escape before being taken to a hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation.
Firefighters arrived to find the building heavily involved in the fire. Four JCFPD stations responded to the fire, which took approximately an hour and a half to bring under control.
“Crews encountered a well-established fire when they arrived,” Captain Joe Jennings said in a statement. “Our focus was on extinguishment and preventing any extension beyond the building.”
On Thursday, W.A. Jackson Firearms posted on social media stating it will be closed for the foreseeable future.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office.
