Warrensburg Main Street’s Summer Movie Night series is closing out the season at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 18.
Celebrate the end of summer with an evening of great weather, adventure, good food, refreshments, and a great movie.
Due to ongoing construction at the Johnson County Courthouse, the September movie will be held on the spacious lawn at 208 Marshall Street located just off Washington Street and across from the Warrensburg Police Station. Quimby Pipe Organs has generously allowed Warrensburg Main Street to utilize this space for the remainder of the Summer Movie Night Series. This space offers attendees plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the film under the stars.
Warrensburg Main Street's Summer Movie Night Series features films selected to appeal to different audiences throughout the summer. The Sept. 18 movie was selected by the
Warrensburg Main Street Promotions Committee and is geared toward bringing in adults and young adults for a fun throwback comedy movie.
The film chosen for September is Ghostbusters which was released in 1984. This PG comedy follows three eccentric scientists who decide to turn their paranormal investigations into a full blown business when ghosts start to run wild in New York City. Armed with proton packs, ghost traps, and plenty of sarcasm, the Ghostbusters take on their biggest supernatural threat yet. For the enjoyment of the movie attendees and to be able to continue this community event, all attendees 18 and younger must be accompanied by a parent or guardian throughout the event. This is a FREE event for all ages but don’t forget to bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and bug spray. Guests can also grab delicious food, and drinks from Rio Good Brazilian Hot Dogs, Little Z’s Soda Shop, or bring takeout from a local Downtown restaurant.
Free public parking is available north of the train tracks along Washington Street, on Pine Street, and in the alleyway between Pine Street and the train tracks. Additional public parking can also be found at the Warrensburg Train Station.
A map of the location and parking options will be available on Warrensburg Main Street’s Facebook Event page for planning and parking. For guest convenience, a port-a-john will be on site. Event signage will also be posted the day of to help direct attendees to the movie location. The Summer Movie Night Series is possible thanks to Warrensburg Main Street’s sponsors, Action Realty Co., Community National Bank, F&C Bank, The Next Door Agents, and Warrensburg R6 School District. This event was put together by Warrensburg Main Street’s promotions committee and staff. The promotions committee is a group of volunteers who work to project a positive, unified image to identify downtown as a gathering place. They work to market the downtown district and the community through a series of targeted activities such as special events and festivals, which highlight the local culture, art, dance, music and traditions that give each community its unique identity.
