An 18-year-old Clinton man is charged with first-degree robbery and armed criminal action after allegedly robbing a Johnson County gas station on Wednesday, April 29.
Maddex Eli Mount allegedly brandished a weapon and demanded money at The Corner Store, 424 SE DD Highway, shortly after 2 p.m. He then exited the building on foot.
During the investigation, law enforcement located $390 on the side of the business.
A witness reported seeing a male matching the suspect’s description getting into a silver passenger car in the area of SE 471 Road shortly after the robbery.
The Johnson County Sheriff's Office asked the public to assist in identifying the male through social media. An anonymous tip led investigators to learn the suspect’s identity.
The male was located at his residence in Clinton. A search warrant led to the recovery of the believed-to-be-used firearm in a silver vehicle. Most of the currency was located inside the man’s house.
Mount is being held in the Johnson County Jail on a $100,000 cash only bond.
