A Knob Noster man is facing charges after fleeing from the Johnson County Sheriff's Office on Tuesday, April 7.

Court documents filed Thursday, April 9, indicate law enforcement with the Johnson County Crime Resolution Team stopped a vehicle driven by John B. Julius for expired registration. It was also determined he had active  felony warrants.

Probable cause states Julius denied his identity. When law enforcement requested Julius to exit the vehicle, Julius accelerated at a high rate of speed with an officer still in the doorway. The deputy escaped before being struck.

Julius proceeded to flee at rates in excess of 100 miles per hour while passing oncoming traffic before abandoning his vehicle in the 700 block of SE 471 Road in Warrensburg.

A victim, identified as Kylie A. Dale, was located in the vehicle, while Julius fled into thew woods before being located and taken into custody.

Dale, who also had an active warrant for a misdemeanor, informed officers Julius threw a black revolver out of the window in the area of State Route D and NE 75 Road. The weapon was later located by the Knob Noster Police Department.

A search of the vehicle located numerous rounds of ammunition and several handgun holsters.

He has been charged with aggravated fleeing and unlawful possession of a firearm.

A social media post from the Johnson County Sheriff's Office indicates it was assisted by the Missouri State Highway Patrol and members of the CRT from the Warrensburg Police Department.
