This week's Backward Glance highlights the inflammatory antics of some local Warrensburg youth back in the 1950s, and then displays a questionable product ad from a 1910 edition of the local paper.
In a seven-hour period yesterday, firemen were called to three fires that Fire Chief C. R. Copas suspects were set by three young boys under 10 years old.
And earlier yesterday, because of incomplete information given by a woman who turned in the alarm, firemen were forced to hunt for another blaze that was started also by a small boy about 4 years old.
The fire truck was called at 5:05 p.m. yesterday to 407 East Gay Street to extinguish a pasture fire. After a search it was determined that the blaze started in a small old shed in the center of the weed patch, and Copas said he learned from three different persons that three small boys were seen entering the field just prior to the blaze.
Lots of men and women who are agreeable with others, get “cranky” at home. It's not disposition, it's the liver. If you find in yourself that you feel cross around the house, little things worry you, just buy a bottle of Ballard’s Herbine and put your liver in shape. You and everybody around you will feel better for it.
Price 50 cents per bottle. Sold by John E. Clark
